A group of American aviation enthusiasts rescued a famous WWII plane wreck out of a remote and inaccessible swamp in North East Papua New Guinea. The project took a film crew of five travelling up meandering rivers for nearly 50 km  to reach villages perched on tiny areas of dry land emerging a few meters above water level in this huge swamp... The really interesting part of the experience was to live near the villages in this unusual wilderness where the only mode of transport are canoes, which posed practical problems for the sound recordist, a lifestyle for which the locals are extremely adapted. Mosquitoes, snakes, scorpions and other insects were common duty but provided a fantastic soundscape!
